A Tale of Two Bridges is a grassroots effort advocating for the construction of two bike/pedestrian bridges over White Oak Bayou that would help connect Houston Heights to Washington Ave and beyond to Buffalo Bayou and Memorial Park. Join us for a bike ride to demonstrate how long it takes to get across the bayou without the bridges that we are advocating for. We will also bike around to tour the green space and put the project into a human perspective.

Celebrate biking on the Navigation Esplanade! The boulevard will be closed to traffic so you can bike to your heart’s content.

The grand ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 11am to unveil “The Squiggle Station,” Houston BCycle’s Art Station from artist Shelbi Nicole. East End Improvement District will be donating 50 bikes to Wellness on Wheels and local schools. And a farmers market for your holiday shopping!

MacGregor Park Pop-Up

As interest in MacGregor Park grows, your input matters!

A master plan for MacGregor Park was completed in 2016 under the direction of Houston Parks and Recreation Department with the involvement of the Friends of MacGregor ParkGreater Southeast Management District, and OST/Almeda Corridors Redevelopment Authority. To see the 2016 Master Plan click here.

On behalf of the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, from May - October 2021, Houston Parks Board is leading a review of the 2016 plan with lead consultant M2L Associates, guided by the City of Houston, Friends of MacGregor Park, and MacGregor Park Conservancy with input from stakeholders, public agencies, and community organizations. The project team also includes Gooden Engineers and RDC Architects.

This process includes consideration of recent projects and planned improvements in and around the park, with the long-term goal of making recommended improvements to MacGregor Park.
